Darıca

Darıca takes its name from Darıca Castle, of which only one bastion has survived to the present day. Darıca Castle is used by the Byzantines for the purpose of withholding against the attacks that may come from outside and is called "Tararion". Darıca joined the Ottoman lands with the Palekonon War in 1329.

Darıca, which is also the subject of Evliya Çelebi's “Seyahatname” is mentioned there under the name "Narrow End".

Darıca with its historical castle, Bayramoğlu peninsula with its modern holiday center, pristine beach with 16 km coastline, international zoo and botanical park, historical houses and plane trees, parks, social facilities and lighthouse; It is among the prominent districts of Kocaeli.
