İzmit
Izmit, whose history dates back to the period before Christ, was called "Astakoz" and lived as an independent city for a while. In 1078, it came under Turkish rule during the Seljuk period. Izmit, which was damaged during the Crusades, was re-entered under Turkish rule during the reign of Orhan Bey. The region, which is also known as Izmiknid and Izmid, became the center of Kocaeli in the Republican period.
Izmit stands out with its values such as Clock Tower and Seka Park.
