Click for directionsWith the declaration of Ballıkayalar Valley as a Nature Park and Natural Protected Area, Ballıkayalar Nature Park has become one of the remarkable nature parks of Kocaeli. The valley in the Gebze district is 1.5 km long and is a frequent destination, especially for those interested in mountaineering. One of the most important rock climbing areas of Marmara, the park offers climbing opportunities for 12 months. The park, where there are hiking areas, is also preferred for camping with its flats suitable for setting up tents. There are wooden tables on the edge of the pond in the park for those who are not interested in mountaineering but enjoy spending time in nature. Ballıkayalar Nature Park, which has very high biodiversity, consists of the hawk, peregrine crow, lark, nightingale, jackal, fox, rabbit, pig, mole and Hungarian oak, kermes oaks, other leafy species of trees and shrubs, hornbeam, chestnut, maple, ash, linden, yew, Scots pine, fir, alder, willow, plane tree species are home to many living species. In addition, 20 different orchid species were observed in the area.
