Karamürsel Alp, who was the first admiral in Ottoman history and lived in the 14th century, built a shipyard at the Kavak Boyu Armutçuk Harbor in the southwest of Karamürsel and built ships. The ships built were the first ships used by the Ottoman Empire and were named Karamürsel. Karamürsel Bey, whose real name is Mürsel Alp, was given the name "Black" by Orhan Gazi due to his achievements. The mausoleum was restored and opened in 2007.
