🏛️ Kocaeli Local Culture Museum

The Kocaeli Local Culture Museum is a cultural and experiential space that aims to preserve, make visible, and pass on the Manav cultural heritage to future generations. Through digital displays and interactive applications, the museum introduces visitors to themes such as the settlement of the Manav people in Kocaeli, Manav architecture and lifestyle, the journey of flax from seed to yarn and weaving, Kandıra fabric, oilcloth motifs, Manav elegance, Kocaeli rug motifs, the stories behind these motifs, and Kandıra rugs.

Visitors can experience weaving through interactive applications on a rug weaving loom, examine recipes for Kocaeli's regional delicacies on digital screens and send their desired recipes to their email addresses using the "do it yourself" option, and learn about the meanings and stories of motifs by digitally scanning them.

The museum; While exploring the historical, social, and aesthetic dimensions of Manav culture through oral narratives, daily life practices, production processes, and motifs, the museum aims to be a living cultural space by hosting workshops, rituals, and written and oral history studies in its multi-purpose hall.
