It is known that the mansion, which bears traces of 19th-century Turkish architecture, belongs to Hafız Rüştü Efendi, who was the Izmit Deputy in the Ottoman Parliament. Its wide eaves are reflections of the practices seen in Black Sea houses on Izmit structures. The mansion hosted the French journalist Claude Farrarre and Atatürk in 1922.
