Sultan’s Fountain and Meadow

Click for directionsHünkar Fountain, also known as Fatih Sabil among the people, is located in the area where Mehmet the Conqueror took a break with his army during his expedition to Italy in 1481, in today's Hünkar Meadow. Hünkar Çayırı, located in the district of Gebze, is home to the fountain with inscriptions, which was built in memory of Fatih Sultan Mehmet and has been standing with various repairs until today. In the meadow, which is used as a recreation area, a wrestling festival is held every year as part of the celebration of the conquest of Istanbul.
