Yarhisar, which was built in the USA in 1964 for the Turkish Navy, served as a Discovery-Patrol museum until 2005. In 2006, it was transformed into a museum ship and took its place on the Gölcük Kavaklı coast as Turkey's first land-based warship. The Yarhisar Museum Ship, which conveys the development of Ottoman and Turkish maritime through the state of its active duty, awaits its visitors in Kocaeli.
